selection testing
Training to pass a test means accurately observing your position with the criteria and then accurately adapting to the required deficits through intelligent progressive training.
Phase one is used to introduce each player to the kind of volume that we are aiming at adapting to. It is meant to sort out where we should start the build in Phase Two. The week after Phase One is spent on testing. Many of these tests are similar or exactly like PT tests found in most selection criteria.
After testing, you can choose the appropriate track for Phase Two based on the result of this testing. We break Phase Two into 3 categories:
Alpha, for those that test strong in each category and only need to increase volume intelligently
Delta, for those that had a deficit in one category, calisthenics or aerobic development.
Charlie, for those that need improvement in every category.
Phase Two is designed to turn up the volume on the most important criteria for physical selections, by individually acknowledging volume criteria for each player. Testing can tell us the proximity to preparation. The Alpha track group may not need to train longer than the 4 week work up of Phase Two, and should consider timing the selection training program close to an indoc for actual selection.
Delta will complete Phase Two and after an appropriate break of 1-2 weeks, will repeat Phase Two under the Alpha track.
Charlie track will complete Phase Two three times, first as the Charlie, then the Delta, and finally, as the Alpha.
This design is meant to customize the required volume for appropriate progress. The injury risk in a program like this is high from the repetition and the reduced rest. Making adjustments to match the ability of the player with the needs of the selection are some of the ways we ensure safety.
Self-care and proper endurance hygiene is going to have to be trained concurrently with this program. Even though most efforts are broken up to allow proper rehydration and refueling, this should not happen by accident. Read through our guideline on Endurance Hygiene Below
